This project is a model of a Lowrider Bicycle. I watched a commercial where it showed a bunch of these, and I thought it would be cool to model one. What I like about these bikes is that after doing some research, there were a variety of designs, meaning they're custom made. I was always interested in more of the car versions, but hopefully I will get a chance to create a model of one some day. Looking at these models gives a more West Coast vibe, hopefully this project does the same.
Now to how I made this project, starting with gathering my references with different parts of the model, then I created my High Res model. It took me a couple retries to do. The most time consuming part I will have to say would be the chain, because I wasn't familiar with a tool I was using at the time, and that part had the most redos than the rest. But, I'm happy to say I understand more on how to use it now, and will be working on it in the future. It is the Mash tool for Animation.
Next, I went and created my game res, then UV'd the model. After that, I sent both models and made a couple bake tests in Substance 3D Painter, this baked version I thought looked best. After my bake I finished with adding textures and colors to my model, to try and match from my references as best as I could. I feel I did ok with this model. The technique for the chain, I'm still trying to understand a faster way to go through when creating high and low poly model, but I did think this was a good experience.
Before I end this, I would like to give a thanks to Robert Peggie and Celeste Gamble for taking the time to provide some useful advice while I was creating this model. Check out their work below.
